 | | | For 40 years, bikers have complained about their helmets, but as of Halloween, 2007, there were only 20 official complaints going back to 1995 on file at the NHTSA. There are 500,000 helmets recalled and most are probably on our heads! Tell NHTSA to force helmet makers to make helmets they are willing to stand behind and are rated for 70 mph. If they made a better product, the government would not have to force people to wear these torture devices. Make your motorcycle helmet complaint official by filing it online now! Update: Within the first 48 hours of the Halloween 2007 Campaign, the number of official helmet complaints on file doubled compared to the last 12 years! Please tell all bikers they should be making their helmet complaints official. It’s easy! For more info, see Bikers of Lesser Tolerance, B.O.L.T. |

 | | | West Virginia Countryside I just found a web site from the New River Valley area of West Virginia about concerns residents have about government takeover and control of property belonging to home owners for a proposed New River Parkway. These folks do not trust the government to do what is right. I do not know the full details of whether or not the government proposals will be good or bad, but I do trust the will of the people who live there, much more than the will of governing bodies from far away. This topic may not seem to be about bikers and motorcycling, yet it has everything to do with us. The only way that future generations of bikers will continue to have a beautiful countryside is if we care for the environment and insist the government does the right thing. It is great that we live in a country that builds decent roads. However, we must balance the growth of urban area so that it does not disrupt and damage the beauty of the environment of rural America, including such things as old farmhouses. We need to hold government responsible for doing the will of the people. The issues of balance between growth and ecologocal perservation are very important. When the government cannot be trusted, the people need to consider and expose any hidden, ulterior motives of the politicians. If you are from the Sandstone, Hinton, and Princeton West Virginia areas, you need to find out what exactly the government plans. If you are a biker who enjoys scenic beauty and plan to visit West Virginia, you might want to go there before it changes, whether the changes are for good or for bad. |

 | | | MOTORCYCLE RALLY | Where to Stay | Daytona Bike Week | Daytona Beach Hotels Nearby, Ormond Beach is my preference. | Arizona Bike Week | Scottsdale Hotels | Myrtle Beach Bike Week | Myrtle Beach Campgrounds Myrtle Beach Hotels | Laconia Rally | If you pitch a tent like I usually do: Weirs Beach Campgrounds. Note: Everyone says camping at the Drive-In is best. That is bogus! There is much better camping in the area. Even Gunstock is better, but they want an outrageous 5 night minimum. Definitely, chill out in Weirs Beach on Saturday night. My favorite Hotel is in the little town of Lincoln NH (my exact favorite is secret, sorry). For hotels closest to both the races in Loudon and Weirs Beach, choose Loudon, Concord,or Tilton. On the way from NY and CT, stop off at Sturbridge Village on Thursday 6/15. On Sunday 6/18, if you’re heading back to Boston, stop at Hampton Beach and spend Sunday evening in Hampton NH, Seabrook NH, or Salisbury MA. | Sturgis Rally | Campgrounds are definitely the best. For those who want a hotel, if I weren’t staying in Sturgis, I would choose Deadwood. | Lone Star Rally | Galveston Hotels |
