Pete Hicks Memorial Ride and Awareness Ride

Approximately 70 bikers from Raleigh and Granville County turned out today for the annual Pete Hicks Awareness Ride. The weather was abolutely ideal as we all gathered down at Bikers Blvd in Raleigh. I had an opportunity to express my condolences to the Hicks family and then ask the Granville County Sheriff about this unsolved case. Pete was riding home in the dark at night and someone had fell a tree right across the road. The Sheriff says there are some leads, but there needs to be enough evidence for an arrest and conviction, so this continues unsolved after 8 years. The ride to the cross and marker on the side of the road was escorted to block the roads. Upon arrival at the memorial, the mood was somber and silent, respectful for our fallen brother, his family, and extended family. Such a shame. RIP.
